Caravanserai (Merchants' Inn). The word 'caravanserai' is derived from the Persian "karwan," which signifies a company, or "caravan," of travelers in a serai (large inn).

We are a professional Middle Eastern & North African Drum and Dance collective based in Manchester and the North West of England. The dance troupe incorporate the dance styles of the Middle East & North Africa including Andalucian, Algerian, Morrocan, Egyptian, Tunisian, Tribal, Bedouin and Berber dances.

The musicians play a variety of Middle Eastern instruments including tabla, duff, nay (flute), sagat (finger cymbals), bendir (frame drum), rec (tambourine).

The essential difference with Caravanserai is that we are unique in that we incorporate musicians who dance and dancers who play instruments to provide all round entertainment where ever we perform. We are regularly employed for Corporate events, private parties, weddings and themed events.
